Little Information for visiting sites;
Ephesus: At the south of Izmir, the town of Seljuk is a major tourist destination mainly as a base to visit the famous ruins of Ephesus a few kilometers away. The ancient classical city is one of the best preserved in the eastern Mediterranean and is a great example of Roman architecture. When the Romans made Ephesus their provincial capital, it became a busy town with great commercial, trading and political importance, A significant Christian community grew, and the city was visited by St John the Evangelist in the 1st century, then by St Paul, who was there between 51-53 AD and wrote some of his epistles. It was also the venue of two Ecumenical Councils. Begin the day among the Hellenic art and architecture of the ruins in Priene, an ancient Ionian city dramatically overlooking the fertile plains of the Meandre Valley. Afterwards, continue to the second archaeological site of the day; the ancient city of Miletus, formerly a prosperous commercial harbor city and the most prominent in Anatolia in its heyday. Most noteworthy among the scattered ruins are the Great Theater and Roman Baths. Eventually, the tour reaches Didim town, where there is time for an open buffet lunch. Following that, the tour proceeds to the ancient city of Didyma, the setting for one of the most colossal temples in the Hellenic World, venerating the God Apollo
Priene: set high on a hill overlooking the countryside this well preserved site is famous for the geometric layout of the city.
Miletus: birth place of many philosophers, the site spread over a wide area with the well preserved amphitheatre and Faustina Bath.
Didyma: the Temple of Apollo dominates this small village with its massive columns reaching to the sky. The amazing intricacy of the architecture is something to marvel at this most sacred of places.
